The reading “Chili Meets Tommy at Swingers” is from the promotional CD Words and Music from the Book, which I produced with Delacorte Press to promote Be Cool. This is the first of five readings.
In this opening scene, Chili and Tommy are outside Swingers — the hipster restaurant in my neighborhood — talking movies and women, when a guy with a cheap rug steps out of a car and starts shooting.
